More than 128 teams from Europe, South America and Asia will meet from 21st until 23rd May 2010 in Kitzbühel and will do battle to win the coveted Cordial Cup trophy. One of the biggest youth football tournaments in Europe guarantees ball skills at their finest and pulls in masses of spectators every year. Local football fans and guests are there, as well as VIPs from the world of international football and talent scouts.
In fact, just taking part in the Cordial Cup is a big dream for young footballers between the ages of 10 and 15. Teams from all over the world can prove their worth in the qualification tournaments, which take place over the year in different countries, amongst them Germany, Austria, Hungary and Croatia.
In addition, youth teams from the big name football clubs are invited. In the starting line-up in 2009 were teams from FC Bayern München, Spartak Moskau, 1. FC Nürnberg, Red Bull Salzburg, Slavia Prag, TSS Vancouver, PK Helsinki and FC St. Gallen.
The Cordial Cup is geared toward teams in the U 11 (=E-youth), U 13 (D) and U 15 (C) age groups. Many talent scouts use it to get an idea of the talent out there. VIPs from the world of football-such as Mathias Sammer and Didi Constantini glean information about the latest development in up and coming players at this tournament.
The Cordial Cup finals take place in Kitzbühel and in other areas in the Kitzbühel Alps. On Friday, 21st May, the big opening ceremony will be taking place in Kitzbühel. The town centre and the Mercedes-Benz Sportpark await players, coaches and fans from more than 120 teams. On Saturday 22nd May and Sunday 23rd May games will be played on a multitude of pitches in the region. The grand finale will take place on Sunday afternoon at Kitzbühel football stadium. |
